poisontaster: So I had a thought. About pahd

poisontaster: So I was thinking about how they're going to gain influence enough for people to start listening to them when they tell them the big bad is coming.
nymeria: yeah?
poisontaster: And I was thinking that Sam could develop another power, where he picks up...and I can't remember the name for it, but where you touch things and you can sense stuff from them. And so it starts with their landlady. She drops something and Sam bends to pick it up and he figures out its one of her kids' (they were taken up, right?) and he blurts out something about it. And she's all shocked, but she's also hungry for anything about them. So then she's nicer to them and lets them start to have water and stuff.
nymeria: yeah, they were. most of the children were. and that'd work, it'd be ice to develop Anna beyond Mean Bitch Who Won't Let Dean Get Clean. *g*
poisontaster: And then she tells like...her neighbor or some shit, and she offers to pay Sam some eggs or something if he'll touch this thing of hers (okay that sounded dirty and that's not how I meant it but you know what I mean)

nymeria: *titters dutifully*
poisontaster: LOL. But word keeps SPREADING. And people start paying Sam to have him tell them things about their loved ones or about their future or whatever.
nymeria: yesss is sam just picking up things about the missing people, or carrying messages from the departed?
poisontaster: both?
nymeria: the latter could fit in with the whole 'more susceptible to possession thing we were tossing around regarding angels
poisontaster: YES. And Dean's like...I don't know if I like you doing this. I mean, what if you open the door in you to something BAD? And Sam's like, I didn't like you hooking, but I shut up about it.
nymeria: yes! Sam LIKES passing these messages on, is the difference they're normally sweet, and he loves seeing the expressions on the faces of the receivers
poisontaster: YES.
nymeria: messages from kids to parents, wives to husbands, so on
poisontaster: YES
And then at some point, he's got like...this whole Roy LeGrange thing going on, except it's messages, and he falls out and has a vision about the big bad. Or Something.
And then people start to admit that they've been having dreams too.
nymeria: yes!
nymeria: *loves* so, i guess the question now is, what comes next in the arc? dean's only tricked once. i think we need to see it become habit?
poisontaster: *nods* They still need things like food, etc.
nymeria: hmm. after the disgust the first time incited in him, I'd say it'd take quite a bit for dean to do it again
poisontaster: Well, our premise is that Sam is sick and weak for a WHILE, right? I mean, the fever breaks but he's still not WELL
nymeria: yeah.
(we need to come up with a reason why - maybe sickness brought on by his body adjusting? and when he 'recovers' he has his powers in much stronger quantities?)
poisontaster: *nods* Maybe Dean's worrying about it and Sam gets taken on by one of the angel personas and they're like, "He'll be okay, in time, but you have to watch over him, protect him, keep him well." etc
nymeria: ooh, yes!
poisontaster: Hence a LITTLE of Dean's pissedness when Sam tries to hustle.
nymeria: so dean gets to talk to an angel - which could be used as a device to explore his attitude on god and being left behind - and takes up hustling to keep Sam safe and well
poisontaster: yes. Which add to the bitter: "Great. I'm hustling for GOD. I feel so much better."
