Sundownverse - Michael & Jensen
Going through email and I want to be sure to save this somewhere else so it doesn't end up deleted by accident because I'm OCD. *coughs*
Okay. So the way I see it....
At the time Michael and Jensen were on Dark Angel, Michael was VERY repressed about his bi leanings. He was so completely in the closet he was almost in Narnia. Jensen got a crush on him, but he was with Jessica Alba so Jensen was kind of flailing around not knowing what to do about it. I think Jensen probably confessed how he felt to Michael and Michael used Jensen's feelings to get him in bed. Jensen fell in love. Michael was very conflicted and has/had a lot of self-hate about it that he was transferring onto Jensen and he was very emotionally abusive. When Jessica found out what was going on and broke off the engagement,Michael blamed Jensen for "ruining his life" and blamed Jensen for seducing him. And Jensen was just heartbroken and decided that he wasn't going to get involved with his co-stars anymore, and got very committment phobic and all of that because Michael REALLY fucked him up, emotionally.
Michael continued to be on the DL after Jensen, though, and irrationally sort of blamed Jensen for "turning" him. And in the wake of the epidemic, he got 'taken in' by some TV exec and sort of turned into a pet, or kept man and (again, irrationally) a part of him thinks that if he'd never had his thing with Jensen, none of this would have ever happened to him. So he's got all this nonsensical resentment towards Jensen and what he represents. Michael is very angry in general. He hates his life now. He hates the loss of freedom, of choice. He hates being the plaything of another man and he still has the same conflict about his sexuality. But at the same time, he's not as brave as Jared and Jensen to give up the security of the life he's living. He's sort of cowardly at heart.
